HEATHER A. FELDNER, ASSOC. PROF. & ASSOC. DIRECTOR AT UW CREATE

JENNIFER MANKOFF, DIRECTOR AT UW CREATE

Today in the episode of What’s Wrong With: The Podcast, we are excited to be joined by two guests to talk about accessibility, inclusive design, and the future of technology!

First off, we are happy to speak with Jennifer Mankoff. Dr. Mankoff directs the Center for Research and Education on Accessible Technology and Experiences (CREATE) at the University of Washington. Their research uses technologies including generative AI, data science, 3D printing, and computational knitting to solve accessibility problems. They strive to bring both structural and personal perspectives to their work, having identified as disabled since graduate school.

And with Jennifer Mankoff today is Heather Feldner. Heather is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she holds appointments in rehabilitation medicine, mechanical engineering, and disability studies. She is also a founding associate director of UW CREATE. Her research is positioned at the intersections of mobility, disability, ableism, and technology, with a focus on pediatric mobility technology access and mitigating ableism in healthcare education and practice.
